We were so thrilled to see our Organic Blackstrap Molasses pop up on the telly, in an episode of MasterChef Australia 2016. At the time, the very talented and creative cook Matt Sinclair used our molasses as the sticky and sweet hero to his onion jam recipe.
Here is that recipe recreated by us and it’s the best. It’s the perfect addition to any meat or vegetarian dish, especially anything cooked on the barbie!
- Heat oil in a medium sized pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring, until just caramelised.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer for a further 3-5 minutes or until the liquid has slightly reduced and mixture has thickened.
- Remove from heat and serve warm or transfer to a container, uncovered, to cool.
- Once cooled, cover and set aside until ready to use.
